YNP security cameras

With all — cameras on the current gateway, continuous recording keeps about — to — days of footage at the settings it supports. We suggest installing in phases and checking real storage use before deciding on a dedicated recorder.

Park Service: cameras should not be in general public view. Cameras are inside, or under covered walkways aimed along them. Locations are proposals to confirm on site.

Where the cameras go

Recording and storage

Multi-sensor cameras take much more storage. Each lens records its own video stream, so a four-lens camera fills the drive about four times as fast as a single-lens one. The multi-sensor cameras have — of the — lenses, so they use about — of the storage.

What the current setup supports. The gateway records to one 10TB drive and has a recommended limit on how many cameras it handles at each quality. With every camera installed, continuous recording keeps about — to — days. Recording 2K or 4K on every camera is over the gateway's recommended load.

If you want longer recording, a dedicated NVR (video recorder) would hold weeks to months. We don't recommend committing to one right away. Installing in phases lets us see the real load and storage use first, then decide.

Gigabytes written per day of continuous recording, with every lens at HD.

Days kept, by phase and quality

Try a setup

Pick the phases, the recorder and the quality for each camera. "Motion and detections only" depends on how busy each area is, so the share of the day with activity is an estimate.

Wireless bridges and camera power

Can a single bridge power each camera?

The seven wireless locations from Matthew's camera list. Each bar is the camera's maximum power draw. The dashed line is what one Device Bridge supplies; the dotted line is a PoE+ port (PoE+ injector or Bridge Switch). The multi-sensor cameras we selected are more advanced and draw much more power, so a Device Bridge alone can't run them.

To confirm before installing

  1. R3 at the family house entry: is there attic space above Entry 015 to run the cable?
  2. S2 on the south side of the shipping building: confirm its south lens covers the family house back door.
  3. G4 in the main-floor hall: keep one lens on the Fine Print door, or make it a two-lens camera to also cover the stairwell?
  4. Whether cameras may be mounted under the covered walkways at the family house and the shipping pergola.
  5. Wireless paths for the bridges to the family house, the shipping building and the Fine Print area, and power at each location.
  6. How long you want footage kept. That decides whether a dedicated NVR is needed later.

Prepared by Sener Akyol, Intelliriver, October 2026, revised October 23. Camera locations are proposals to confirm on site. Recording estimates are based on Ubiquiti's recommended camera limits and continuous-recording rates from our June storage estimate.
